#ivoryandpearlbride Esther

“Hi Kate and the girls,

Thank you so much for all your help last year in the run up to our wedding in February. My Catherine Deane dress was just perfect. Here are a few photos of our day.

Love Esther”

Esther wore a beautiful Catherine Deane dress … which we don’t even stock, she had spied it online and we brought it in for her to try on! I love when this happens, as we get to see another dress – we can never see too many wedding dresses!! It was perfect for her, and the colours were perfect.

Love Kate

I found my Mister, but I still need my Sister…Will you be my bridesmaid?

We all want to think of the most unique and memorable ways to ask our lovely ladies “will you be my bridesmaid?” something to treasure forever and celebrate your friendship. There are lots inspirational ideas out there of fun, adventurous, sentimental and even humorous ways of asking your nearest and dearest ladies to stand by your side as your bridesmaid at your wedding! We have put together a few of our favourite ideas for you to consider… Whether you want a simple gesture or a grand ‘maid of honour’ proposal we’ve got you covered!

  1. Personalised jewellery

A simple classic that will never get old, a timeless piece of jewellery to ask your ladies the all important question will be something they can get the most use out of. You could use a ‘save the date necklace’ or give a more traditional piece of jewellery with the crucial question behind it, like these gorgeous little gold bracelets below.

  1. Personalised letters

Nothing says personal like a card!! Letters and posters can be combined with other gifts, trinkets and gestures, however I feel a personalised letter or card is the most sentimental.  A pretty card like this floral one below is a beautiful little gesture for your maids to keep forever. (P.S Check out our range of ‘thank you for being my bridesmaid’ cards in our boutique, they are stunning! – See our Facebook for details & pictures ).

  1. Humour

Maybe you want something a little less serious, where you can embrace the funny and humorous side of your friendship? I personally love this light-hearted idea, especially the idea of asking your bridesmaid to complete your #squadgoals at your wedding! Maybe even an SOS bridesmaid emergency box of things to prevent any wedding disasters (i.e. a sewing kit!).

  1. Box of surprises- memories & goodies

A beautiful trinket or jewellery box like this would be a perfect addition to any dressing table! Fill it with old memories, photographs, sweets, treats and goodies for the ultimate gift. It’s also a good idea to make up a little ‘pampering box’- possibly gather all the bridesmaid for a girly night in with a bottle of wine and beauty products then present them with a little box like seen below! It does require a little more effort and some DIY, however it is a lovely gesture and something they will certainly remember!

  1. Keepsakes

Small keepsakes that are personal to your bridesmaid in my eyes- are ALWAYS a good idea. If she loves candles why not get her a personalised one? Small intimate gifts like this can go a long way.  Cute little trinkets can be added into a box of goodies, as mentioned, or given on their own as a small gesture- perfect for on a budget! There is also the option of personalising a lovely plaque or which can you can fit those thoughtful little poem verses in- sure to bring a few tears!

  1. Baking

A shared love of food?  Why not ask through baking a cake or some cookies! The homemade aspect gives that personal, memorable touch. And let’s be honest, who could say no to cake and cookies? Although this gesture can’t be kept forever it’s the cutest little idea!

  1. Surprise adventures

What better way to make the ultimate bridesmaid ‘proposal’ than taking your girls (or just maid of honour- if on a budget!) out on a surprise adventure, to show them how much they mean to you. Ideas like a trip to the spa for some beauty treatments, an afternoon tea, a picnic or even just a fun road trip adventure- something unique to your friendship and what you like doing together most.

These are just a few examples of ways to ask ‘will you be my bridesmaid?’, recently engaged myself I will definitely be using some of these ideas ! **TIP**

Happy Planning!,

Designer Weekends

It has come to that time of year again… The Season of Designer Weekends and boy do we have some treats for you!

Firstly, what is a Designer Weekend?

This is when our designers, and sometimes even new designers send us the full collection of their dresses (and we jump up and down with excitement)!! This is a great opportunity for us to see what our lovely brides love, it’s also a great opportunity to find a dress that we don’t normally stock, which means you’ll have a dress that possibly no-one else in Ireland has, which has actually happened quite a lot lately.

So who are these designers and when are they happening I hear you say!

Well last weekend we had in the stunning gowns by New Zealand designer Sally Eagle. These gowns are beautifully delicate, fashion forward and also some separates which is very on trend!! We had lots of ‘ooo’s’ and ‘aaaahs’ from brides as we showed them over the last week!

Then we had the ABSOLUTELY stunning Anna Campbell Gossamer Collection at the weekend. Anna actually just got married herself, and wore not one, not two, but four wedding dresses. Well, when you’re a wedding dress designer, why not? Check out one of them yourself, here.

Date: 29th – 31st January 2016
10% OFF on these dates.

Next up, is Catherine Deane. I have been a lover of Catherine Deane, for a long, long time. I just love her branding, her imagery, her photography and of course her dresses!!! Separates are a big thing this year, and Catherine is the Queen of seperates. Check them out here!

Date: 12th-14th February 2016
10% OFF on these dates.

Flora is also coming to Ireland, and we’re the only stockist on the island (whoop!) She will have her beautiful 2015 collection, as well as her new 2016 collection!

Date: 19th – 21st February 2016
10% OFF on these dates.

Claire Pettibone is back, and a big favourite at Ivory & Pearl. This is a weekend not to miss! Check out her new video of the Gilded Collection here!

AND… if you’re looking for a beautiful dress in a fantastic condition! Don’t miss The Big Bridal Sample Sale this Sunday.

Claire Pettibone Beauty

As promised, here is Sinead’s beautiful Beauty gown, just look at that back, it is to die for!! Sinead came from Australia, with Beauty in her mind from the very beginning and the one gown she wanted to try on and as soon as she put it on… she just knew!

Sinead herself said:

“I love looking back on them, the dress is absolutely stunning and I can’t thank you enough for everything you did for me. I left my dress back in Ireland in my mothers safe hands and I miss looking at it lol.

It sparkled the whole wedding day and I am still getting compliments from people about it,  almost 6 months on 🙂

Gary was also in awe and understood when he saw the dress how our wedding theme was organised. This dress was the inspiration for all our details and delicate touches. Everything related to each detail, (Even the church walls and carpet blended in with my colours, haha).

When I was talking to guests at the wedding I would turn to find friends taking quick pics of my back. At one point Gary remembers he was looking at me across the room and I would be totally oblivious to people who were taking pictures of the beadwork etc hehehe.

Our day was dreamlike and I felt like I was walking on clouds for the whole day, I was so comfortable and felt fabulous.
Andrea was so fantastic in helping the dress fit with alterations, it felt perfect!! 🙂

Thank you so much for everything Kate, you’re fantastic!!!
Hope to hear from you soon, I hope you’re keeping well and your family are well,
Many Many MANY Thanks 🙂

Susie & Elijah’s Wedding

14th February 2015

“The look of love, that sideward glance”

Who doesn’t love a real wedding blog? I know, I love them! I always say, when trying dresses on – you have to visualise yourself with your hair done, make up done, heels on… and that glow that only brides ever have! Susie was great at imagining how her wedding would turn out! The last girl to get married, and now all married and off to America to live. Susie finished off her look with beautiful baby breath in her bouquet and in her hair. What beautiful images, and what a beautiful couple!

It was a real joy having Susie and her family l in the boutique.

Enjoy!

Love Kate

PS- I have to point out, the amazing bow, which my dress maker made for her – oh she is so talented!!
